How Big Tobacco Affects Our Health, Pocketbook and Political Freedom, and What We Can Do About It.

This is the website for the E-Book, Toward a Tobacco Free World, for the book, Ending The Tobacco Holocaust: how Big Tobacco affects our health, pocketbook, and political freedom, and what we can do about it, and for the Tobacco Free World Project*.

Every day, at least 1,241 Americans die before their time. They die painful, lingering deaths that could have been prevented. Every three days, as many citizens die from their own smoking habit, or from exposure to secondhand smoke, as died in the September 11 tragedy. Each and every pack of cigarettes costs American taxpayers $40 in higher medical premiums, unavailability of health services, and other hidden financial drains. And every year, 925 out of every 1,000 smokers who try to quit on their own fail to stay smoke-free for a year-while hundreds of thousands of children become addicted to nicotine.

Dr. Michael Rabinoff, a respected psychiatrist who holds two patents and has published repeatedly in the New England Journal of Medicine and other top-flight journals, shows the health and financial suicide we commit by allowing tobacco companies to continue doing business as usual-and, like any good doctor, provides a detailed prescription for what to do about it: simple actions we can take to save the lives of millions around the world.

According to the World Health Organization, 1 Billion people will die from smoking in this century. (That's Billion with a 'B'). The World Health Organization has also found that 17% of all 13 to 15 year old teenagers on our planet currently use some form of tobacco.

The e-book, book, and this website are dedicated to empowering all of us to help end the tobacco problem, a major global problem that affects all of us, whether we are aware of it or not. For all of us, this site informs you how this issue has a major impact on your life and the lives of your loved ones, and provides easy, effortless actions you can take to help end this problem.

Also, for smoker's, the benefits and best ways to quit smoking are discussed. In addition, the role of celebrity smoking in promoting the addiction and future deaths of many of the children in the world is covered.

The e-book, Toward A Tobacco Free World, and the book, Ending The Tobacco Holocaust, contain both factual information as well as emotionally compelling stories to help people with different learning styles to understand the issue. Both types of presentation are found on this website.

*The name Tobacco Free World Project, the E-Book title Toward A Tobacco Free World and the website header logo Tobacco Free World, were selected to be in alignment with the World Health Organization's Tobacco Free Initiative. Many experts think that with the best implementation of public health efforts that "only" 650 to 750 million people will die from smoking in this century. That death toll would be totally man-made... and is totally unnecessary.

*The Tobacco Free World Project vision is to prevent at least 10% more of the 1 Billion total from dying (beyond what is often considered possible with the best implementation of public health efforts), which will lead to at least 100 million less deaths from smoking in this century. The Tobacco Free World Project aims to do that by "thinking outside the box", using new methods, such as social media, and working in conjunction with established foundations, non-governmental organizations, governments and others, to increase awareness, create rapid social change through use of modern technology, and to implement new alliances with a high probability of creating significant public health changes for the betterment of the world. (Even if we "only" succeed at preventing 1% of the deaths out of the estimated 1 Billion total, that would still translate to 10 million less deaths from smoking in this century).
